It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee Moye of Unleashing Readers decided to give It's Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now...you just might discover your next “must-read” book!
Here's what jumped out of the pile this past week:
Red: The True Story of Red Riding Hood by Liesl Shurtliff (Knopf Books for Young Readers, April 12, 2016) - Fans of Shurtliff's first two books will love this fractured fairy tale.
Duck, Duck, Porcupine by Salina Yoon (Bloomsbury, May 17, 2016) - Yoon is branching out to early readers and debuts in May with a fantastic new one.
Snail and Worm: Three Stories About Two Friends by Tina Kugler (HMH Books for Young Readers, May 3, 2016) - Another wonderful early reader coming out in May. Don't miss it.
Humphrey's School Fair Surprise by Betty Birney; Illustrations Priscilla Burris (Puffin Books, January 19, 2016) - Humphrey's Tiny Tales are for readers not quite ready for the regular Humphrey series. Same characters and same fun.
The Case of the Missing Tiger's Eye (Rider Woofson #1) by Walker Styles; Illustrated by Ben Whitehouse (Little Simon, January 19, 2016) - A new early chapter book with humor and a mystery twist.
Judy Moody and Friends: Triple Pet Trouble by Megan McDonald; Illustrated by Erwin Madrid (Candlewick, 2015) - Judy Moody in early reader form.
Zac's Bank Bust (Zac Power Test Drive #7) by H.I. Larry (Hardie Grant Egmont, 2009) - Like Humphrey's Tiny Tales, Zac Power's Test Drive series is for readers that love a spy novel but not quite ready for the Zac Power chapter books.
So, what are you reading?
