It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. Kellee Moye, of Unleashing Readers, and Jen Vincent of Teach Mentor Texts decided to give It's Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. We encourage everyone who participates to visit at least three of the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and leave comments for them.
Here are some of the books that I have been reading recently...
Agnes and Clarabelle by Adele Griffin and Courtney Sheinmel; Illustrated by Sara Palacios (Bloomsbury, January 17, 2017) - More about this to come with the #Road2Reading Challenge.
Mr. Fuzzbuster Knows He's the Favorite by Stacy McAnulty; Illustrated by Edward Hemingway (Two Lions, February 7, 2017) - Every child wonders if they are their parent's favorite. With a twist, all of the pets in a household wonder if they are the favorite. Loved the twist at the end.
Flowers for Sarajevo by John McCutcheon (Peachtree Publishers, April 1. 2017) - A fictionalized story based on a true story of a Cellist in Sarajevo and a response to the loss of 22 lives in a bombing in a bakery.
Lion Island: Cuba's Warrior of Words by Margarita Engle (Antheneum, August 2016) - Just finished this one and again I love Engle's lyrical verse and power to tell a story.
Here is what I am currently reading....
Undefeated: Jim Thorpe and the Carlisle Indian School Football Team by Steve Sheinkin (Roaring Brook Press, January 17, 2017) - Stop back on Friday for my blog post on this book.
Hidden Figures Young Readers' Edition by Margot Lee Shetterly (HarperCollins, November 2016) - Will report back on this one but timely in light of the movie's release.
Here is what was snagged by close friends before I could read it....
Dragon Captives (The Unwanteds Quests #1) by Lisa McMann (Aladdin, February 7, 2017) - Fans of McMann's Unwanteds will want to add this spin-off to their TBR list.
So, what are you reading?
