Quick thoughts on the book:
Normally, I don't review activity books, but this book is different. Coding seems so out of reach for many of us. When a book can break it down into a comprehensible form and does it with fun, then it is worth taking a closer look.
A Beginner's Guide to Coding introduces children to two different programming languages: Python and Scratch and the basics of coding.
Through a series of tutorials with pictures, children learn to play games, paint pictures, and more.
Once children have learned something about "moving and joining blocks", readers are introduced to Python and learning to "write code using text".
The bright colors and fun illustrations and easy to read tutorials will draw in children. At the end of the book, readers learn about programming in the real world, including hackers. Resources at the end include a glossary, index, and additional coding resources.
