Baby Monkey, Private Eye by Brian Selznick and David Serlin (Scholastic, February 27, 2018)
I love this new early chapter book by Brian Selznik and David Serlin done in the style of Hugo Cabret. I am not sure I would have ever thought of tackling an early reader chapter book in this style and format.
How do you resist a cute baby monkey with baggy pants that present a challenge every time he works to get them on?
I also love the repetition of the color red on very specific pages and used in certain way. Really, a very fun read from the beginning to the end. Also loved the endnotes that include references to art history.
Other books I read...
Louise Loves Bake Sales by Kelly Light (Balzer & Bray, January 2, 2018) - Excited to get more of Louise and Art in this new early reader series.
Teamwork Trouble (My Weird School) by Dan Gutman; Illustrated by James Paillot (HarperCollins, January 2, 2018) - Dan Gutman has a second early reader spin off of his "Weird School" series.
